Philosophy

There are two elements that I focus on the most in my teaching. Those two factors are the necessary ingredients for consistent and grounded performances:

  • Healthy, solid, sustainable technique that is based on scientific research and anatomy, and taught in a way that gives you confidence and awareness of what happens within your body while you sing.

  • Soft, kind and curious relationship between the singer and their voice. Singing is the most personal way of making music - there is no separation between the instrument and the musician. That is why in my studio I encourage students to observe the way they think and feel about their voice and themselves, and how this translates into their singing and performance.

Whatever style of music you choose to pursue, these two things will never change. The deeper you go into details of both of them, the more possibilities open for your vocal journey - it is a fascinating and joyful process that I am honoured to be a part of.

Anna Pych is a Polish-born and UK based professional performer, singer and teacher. She received her Bachelor of Music degree with First Class Honours in Vocal Performance from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London and is currently studying on the Master of Music programme in Vocal Performance at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow.

Anna is a dedicated educator, passionate about holistically supporting people on their singing journeys. A member of the Association of Teachers of Singing (AOTOS), she regularly attends conferences and seminars to stay up to date on the latest developments in vocal pedagogy. With experience working at private, public and specialised music schools, she effectively prepares students for exams (including GCSE and ABRSM diplomas), performances, auditions and recordings. Anna strongly believes in providing tailored, student-centered vocal education based on collaboration, and applies effective methods and tools to explain technical ideas. Through her work, she aims to deepen students’ awareness of their own potential, voice, and body while developing the vocal technique that will support them in expressing their unique selves through music. She guides students to appreciate the process and embrace their individuality.

As an active performer, Anna specialises in opera and contemporary music, collaborating with living composers. Her recent stage appearances include the world premiere of Edward Jessen’s sonic theatre work Syllable as well as classic operatic roles of Vixen (Cunning Little Vixen), Susanna (Marriage of Figaro), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus) and others. Anna has participated in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Anne Sofie von Otter (Wigmore Hall Masterclass Series), Malcolm Martineau, Susan Bullock, Judith Howarth, John Mark Ainsley, Karen Cargill, Ailish Tynan and Dr Ron Morris. She aims to make the classical music industry better through her work: she has conducted research on empowering women in opera and is currently creating a database of IPA transcriptions for Polish vocal music to make it accessible to singers worldwide.

Anna is trained in safeguarding and child protection.
